Magistrate Court Procedure Workshops

Magistrate Court Procedure Workshops are live, interactive sessions designed to take the mystery out of how the local court actually works for everyday people. We meet with civic groups, homeowner associations, small business circles, and ministry groups to walk through real-world scenarios in plain language, so your members know what to expect before they ever set foot in a courtroom.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎
Drawing on years of hands-on law enforcement, judicial training, and academic work in criminal justice and public administration, we explain how cases move through Magistrate Court-small claims, landlord-tenant disputes, minor criminal matters, and ordinance violations. Participants learn who does what, which forms matter, what timelines look like, and how to prepare respectfully and effectively for a hearing.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎
The workshops are highly practical. We use sample case outlines, step‑by‑step flow charts, and Q&A segments to cover topics like: how to present evidence, how to address the judge, how mediation and negotiated resolutions can save time and money, and where to find accurate information instead of relying on rumor or social media.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎
Sessions can be held in person or virtually, making them accessible for working families, seniors, students, and busy professionals. We adjust each workshop for the group in front of us-for example, emphasizing rent, deposits, and repairs for renter-heavy communities, or collections and contract issues for small business owners.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎
Above all, these workshops are about fairness and confidence. When residents understand the rules of the court, they are better able to protect their rights, respect others' rights, and trust that decisions are based on law and facts, not confusion or intimidation.
